John Taylor MBE, FInstM - National President
John has been involved in the butchery trade all his working life and today works alongside son Stuart at John Taylor & Son in Coventry. John first worked at the age of 12 on his Father’s 30 acre farm before moving on to gain experience as a slaughterman and then, as the 3rd generation of his family in the trade, joined his father in his own butcher’s shop before taking sole responsibility at the age of 23 when his father retired from the business. John later went on to expand the operation in 1989 with the addition of a second shop. Despite the huge commitment the business has demanded over the years, John has and continues to be involved in many committees and steering groups related to the industry, most notably in the areas of food hygiene, education and training and was duly awarded an MBE for services to training in 2001. He has been elected President of Coventry Meat Trader Association on six separate occasions and was also installed as President of the Midlands Council from 1986 to 1988. Additionally, he is a member of the Worshipful Co of Butchers. He first joined the Federation in 1974 and joined the National Executive Council in 1988. This is John’s second term as National President, having previously been elected in 1995. In his spare time, such as there is, John is a keen member of Coventry Archery Club, enjoys the odd round of golf as well as showing his 1946 MG at various Classic Car Rallies.

Peter Yeeles - Employment Rights Consultant
Peter works in tandem with the Federation, and has done so for over a decade. He responds to issues raised on employment matters by members in circumstances where the issue could potentially result in a tribunal hearing.
